CoBRA Jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas who was kidnapped by the Naxals during Bijapur attack on April 3, has been released by them, the Central Reserved Police Force said on Thursday. The director general of the CRPF has confirmed that Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas has been released. He has been taken for a medical check up.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the release of the CoBRA jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas who was abducted by the Naxals during an encounter with security forces along Sukma-Bijapur border on April 03, said it was a political win. "This is our strategic win. The officers who were given this responsibility have successfully performed it. I am satisfied, jawan's family was also worried," said CM Bhupesh Baghel.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said that CoBRA jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas will undergo medical examination. Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, who was kidnapped by Naxals during an encounter in Junaguda village in Chhattisgarh on April 03, has been released.
Bastar IG P Sundarraj said there's a strong possibility of the missing jawan being in Naxals' captivity. He said forces conducted a search operation at the encounter site but couldn't find him. The cobra jawan was part of a squad that had gone for an anti-naxal operation on Friday. “Among the jawans killed and injured in naxal attack, one is still missing. Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas is of the 210th battalion of CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action). The search party has been looking for our missing soldier. We got to know via social media that he has been abducted by Naxals. There is a possibility that it's true, we are verifying the information. We will take necessary action to get the missing jawan back safely,” Sundarraj said. Manhas went missing on Saturday after a gunfight along the border of Sukma and Bijapur. As many as 22 security personnel were killed and 31 others were injured in the fierce gunbattle.

Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis accused Maharastra Police of harassing a Daman-based Remdesivir supplier for agreeing to supply a stock of the drug to the state on the request of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. “We had requested Bruck Pharma to supply a stock of Remdesivir vials to Maharashtra. They said they couldn't until permissions were given. I spoke with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and got Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s permission. Tonight around 9 pm, the police arrested him," said Fadnavis. He added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manjunath Singe told they had inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and they only wanted to verify the same. The Government said a further 35 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 127,260.Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 151,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 2,206 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.It brings the total to 4,385,938.
