Labour: The govt has followed our lead on windfall tax

Labour's Lisa Nandy says the government has "followed our lead" after it announced plans for a cap on the revenues of renewable energy generators and nuclear power plants.

The shadow levelling up secretary adds the cap would earn more money if it "ended the loophole" that "allows big oil and gas producers" to "get out of paying tens of billions of pounds in tax".

The government has been accused of trying to smuggle in a windfall tax through the back door through the proposed introduction of a "cost-plus revenue limit".
