The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued Amazon.com on Sept. 26, Reuters reports. .
According to the FTC, Amazon restricted sellers on its platform from discounting, which suppressed competition, and required them to use its "fulfilment service.".
The lawsuit follows a four-year investigation after Amazon.com and other tech companies were accused of abusing their internet dominance, Reuters reports.

and restore the lost promise of competition.".
The complaint also asked the court to contemplate "any preliminary or permanent equitable relief, including but not limited to structural relief, necessary to restore fair competition.".

NBC reports that a woman in North Carolina has filed
a lawsuit against Google after her husband died by
driving off a collapsed bridge following GPS directions.
According to the lawsuit, Philip Paxson died
after driving off of "an unmarked, unbarricaded
collapsed bridge" on September 30, 2022.
His widow, Alicia Paxson, said that her husband
was unaware the bridge had collapsed and was
following Google's out-of-date GPS directions.
NBC reports that the lawsuit, which accuses
Google of negligence, is seeking a jury
trial and does not name a damage amount.
The lawsuit names Google's parent company,
Alphabet, in addition to three people who own
or control the land where the bridge is located. .
In 2013, a large portion of
the Snow Creek Bridge
collapsed and was never repaired.
According to the suit, a woman informed Google that the
bridge was out in 2020 using the "suggest an edit" feature
and was told in an email that the matter was under review. .

Prime Video to Soon Include Ads , Unless You Pay More.
In a press release on Sept. 22, Amazon announced plans to start including "limited advertisements"
on Prime Video, The Verge reports.
The move is reportedly being implemented so that Amazon can "continue investing in compelling content.".
The ads will first roll out in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Germany in "early 2024.".
Later that year, Australia, France,
Italy, Mexico and Spain will also get ads.
In the U.S., Prime members who want to remain
free of ads will have to pay another $2.99 a month
on top of their current subscription price.
Currently, Prime members pay
$14.99 a month or $139 a year.
Ad-free pricing for the other countries will be revealed "at a later date," Amazon said.
Amazon's decision to introduce ads to the platform comes just a few months after the company laid off another 9,000 employees in an attempt to cut costs, The Verge reports.
