The Manipur Police have registered a criminal case against Meitei Leepun chief Pramot Singh for allegedly promoting enmity between groups and criminal conspiracy, among other charges.
A government source confirmed that the FIR was registered against Mr. Singh on July 8 at the Kangpokpi police station following a complaint by the Kuki Students Organisation (KSO), Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi.
The district to north of Imphal is dominated by the Kukis.
Two members of Arambai Tenggol were arrested for abducting and assaulting four Manipur Police personnel in Kangpokpi district. This marks the second such incident this year involving the group. The abducted officers, from non-conflicting communities, were intercepted while on duty. Tensions between communities in Manipur impact police deployment. The police condemned Arambai Tenggol's criminal activities masquerading as public protection.

They call these forces (paramilitary) neutral forces... Earlier, you might have seen that the groups are attacking the national infrastructure like the roads and towers. Now, they are attacking central forces. How can this be tolerated?..."
