Premier League boss: Big-spending Saudi clubs not a threat

The Chief Executive of the Premier League says, despite them spending huge sums of money on new players throughout the summer transfer window, he does not see big-spending Saudi Pro League clubs as a threat.

Speaking ahead of the start of the new season, Richard Masters says he believes the Premier League is still "really strong", and is "able to sustain itself" through homegrown players and international talent.

Asylum seeker sentenced to life for revenge terror killing

A Moroccan asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in jail for murder, with a minimum term of 45 years, at Teesside Crown Court. In October last year, 45-year-old Ahmed Alid stabbed Iranian Christian convert Javed Nouri at the house he was sharing with other asylum seekers before looking for more victims in Hartlepool town centre. He then stabbed and killed 70-year-old Terence Carney who was out for his regular early morning walk. Alid told police he had committed his crimes out of “revenge” for Israel killing children in the Palestinian conflict. Report by Jonesia.
