PM Modi receives death threat: Security on alert as mail demands Bishnoi’s release | Oneindia News
A central security agency has received an email threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and blow up the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
Officers said that the email even demanded Rs 500 crore as well as the release of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) alerted the Mumbai police about the threat email and immediately shared its content with various agencies concerned with the PM’s security, besides the Gujarat Police.
According to a police source, Mumbai police have since stepped up security as the city is set to host five World Cup cricket matches at Wankhede Stadium.
Security forces have released sketches of three suspected Pakistani terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, in South Kashmir's Anantnag. The suspects—Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha—used code names in earlier strikes. The Lashkar-backed group “The Resistance Front” claimed responsibility. Pencil sketches, based on survivor accounts, show young men with sharp features. Global leaders, including President Trump, condemned the attack and extended support to India. PM Modi cut short his Saudi visit and returned for urgent national security meetings.
