Senior Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday, 26th October, expressed deep sadness over the government's decision to auction a model of the Golden Temple presented as a gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He considers the move to auction off the 'sacred symbol of the gift and blessings of the Akal Purakh and the Guru Sahibs' to be 'grossly disrespectful' and believes it will hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
The replica of the Golden Temple was a gift from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
