Leaders Clash on Tax and Immigration in ITV Election Debate
Seven party leaders and representatives took the stage for ITV's second General Election debate on Thursday evening, addressing issues such as taxes, immigration, and the cost of living.
A man who threw a coffee cup at Reform UK leader and Clacton MP Nigel Farage during the General Election campaign has been given a suspended sentence.
Josh Greally, 28, from Derbyshire, was arrested in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on 11 June after throwing what looked like a paper cup containing a liquid, and another object, at Mr Farage. Reacting to the verdict on Wednesday, Mr Farage said: "Frankly, if a man can threaten me in that way and not get a custodial sentence, that doesn't give much deterrence to anyone else. I am dissatisfied in the extreme."

Kemi Badenoch has addressed the Conservative conference in her bid for the Tory leadership. The shadow housing minister said as leader of the party she would be able to "sell Conservatism again". "I'm somebody who gets cut through, I am somebody who communicates our values and I always start from first principles," she said.

The opposition chief whip in the House of Commons has weighed in on the controversial comments about maternity pay at the Conservative conference. Kemi Badenoch had said statutory maternity pay, set up to support mothers for 39 weeks after having a baby, is a "function of tax" which she described as "excessive". Stuart Andrew says the Tory leadership candidates are entitled to "stand up for what they believe in and put that forward to the party."
