The protesters, many waving EU flags, gathered in the heart of the capital to voice their opposition to the government's controversial stance on EU membership and recent political decisions. The scene turned chaotic as masked individuals confronted the police, with some attempting to break into the parliament. Hezbollah's relentless rocket and missile attacks have left Metulla, a key Israeli settlement near the Lebanese border, reeling. Over 60% of the settlement's buildings have been damaged, with more than 450 homes suffering structural damage of at least 60%. The attacks, which have continued for over a year, have devastated the settlement, transforming it into a closed military zone.
The scale of the destruction is staggering, with more than 7,000 vehicles destroyed, and the total damage exceeding 2 billion shekels (over $550 million). Metullaās mayor, David Azoulay, described the situation as dire, emphasizing the uncertainty of the settlementās future and the necessity of demolishing homes in severely impacted areas.

Israeli forces have launched a deadly retaliation in southern Lebanon, killing at least 11 people following a breach of the ceasefire by Hezbollah. The attack came after Hezbollah fired projectiles toward Israeli positions in a warning over what it called Israeli violations of the truce. Israel responded with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah fighters and infrastructure across Lebanon. This escalation tests the fragile ceasefire, which had aimed to end months of conflict. While the White House downplayed the significance of the strikes, the violence threatens to derail the truce and further destabilize the region.

Iraqi fighters, backed by Iran, have crossed into Syria to join forces with Syrian and Russian military units in a fight against Turkey-backed jihadist rebels. The deployment comes after the jihadists seized Aleppo, marking a significant blow to the Syrian government's control. These reinforcements, primarily from Iraq's Badr and Nujabaa groups, are expected to focus on defending key Shiite shrines and supporting Assadās forces on the frontlines.
However, Lebanon's Hezbollah, a key ally of Syria and Iran, has decided to stay out of this latest conflict. Despite Hezbollah's earlier role in supporting Syrian forces, particularly in the fight against rebels, it is not ready to commit forces in the current escalation, reportedly due to the strain from its ongoing war with Israel.
