Ukraine launches large-scale drone attack on Russia-occupied Crimea | Russian airbase in flames
Description: Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on the Russian-occupied Crimea on the night of May 1-2.
Footage released by a Crimean handle called ‘CrimeanWinds’ showed that a Russian airfield in the area was destroyed even as Russian authorities claimed that they had shot down several Ukrainian drones and UAVs.
This latest strikes comes just a day after U.S. approved a $50mn arms sale to Ukraine and peace talks remain in limbo.
In a major shift, the U.S. has stepped back from directly mediating Ukraine-Russia peace talks, urging both sides to present concrete proposals for ending the war. The move comes as President Trump grows frustrated with the lack of progress despite several meetings and major pro-Ukraine actions, including a $50 million arms package. With Crimea still a major sticking point, the U.S. withdrawal dims hopes for a near-term resolution.
