Stubble burning down by 54% in some states: Environment ministry

Stubble burning incidents in northern Indian states have decreased significantly compared to last year. In the last 45 days, there were 6,391 incidents, down from 13,964 in the same period last year. Punjab and Haryana reported the highest number of incidents, with Punjab seeing a total of 5,254 incidents and Haryana reporting 1,094. The Indian government has released funds to support the management of paddy straw and has advised state governments to take preventive measures to control stubble burning.
