Wednesday, 1 November 2023 The wait time for Indians seeking US visas has significantly reduced, with Delhi experiencing the biggest drop from 542 days to just 37 days for B1/B2 visa interview appointments. Other consulates have also reported improvements, with Kolkata's wait time dropping from 539 days to 126 days, Mumbai's from 596 days to 322 days, and Chennai's from 526 days to 341 days. The US embassy has opened over 250,000 visa interview slots, leading to the reduction in wait times.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two suspects - Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Taha - in connection with Bengaluru's Rameswaram Cafe blast case on Friday. The two were nabbed near West Bengal's Kolkata. Mussavir Hussain Shazib has been identified as the alleged "mastermind" behind the low-intensity blast that occurred at a prominent eatery in Bengaluru on March 1. Shazib is accused of placing the improvised explosive device (IED) at the cafe. Additionally, Abdul Matheen Taha is implicated as a co-conspirator in the incident. Both Taha and Shazib hail from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, according to statements from the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
