Supreme court to hear Punjab government's plea against governor's delay in nod to bills on Monday

IndiaTimes Sunday, 5 November 2023
The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea by the Punjab government regarding the alleged delay in granting assent by Governor Banwarilal Purohit on bills passed by the Assembly. The plea seeks directions to the governor to clear all pending bills that have been passed by the Assembly. The plea argues that the governor's inaction has brought the administration to a halt and that he cannot indefinitely sit over bills as he has limited powers.
