Caste census, Rs 50 Lakh insurance among Congress pledges in Rajasthan

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 21 November 2023
Congress unveiled on Tuesday a manifesto for Rajasthan laden with the usual suspects — jobs, interest-free loans to farmers and traders, and subsidised cooking gas for a large section of the population — alongside big-ticket commitments such as a Bihar-like caste survey “for informed affirmative action” and a law guaranteeing MSP for crops. The “Jan Ghoshna Patra”, released by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in the presence of CM Ashok Gehlot and his estranged former deputy Sachin Pilot, envisages 10 lakh jobs, including 4 lakh at the panchayat level.

In his resignation letter addressed to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely expressed feeling "handicapped" and unable to effectively lead the Delhi Congress unit. Highlighting numerous instances of discord, Lovely outlined objections raised by several party leaders regarding the conduct of Deepak Babaria, the Congress's general secretary in-charge for Delhi.
