Accidental deaths increased to 4.3 lakh in 2022, a 5-year high
The number of accidental deaths in India increased to 4.3 lakh in 2022, the maximum in the last five years, according to the NCRB report. Road and rail traffic crashes accounted for a high share of these fatalities, followed by drowning, falls, and poisoning. Maharashtra reported the highest number of accidental deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
