Bombay HC seeks answers from Thane, Belapur courts on why no charge framed; man in jail for 5 years definitely deserves answers

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 13 December 2023
Justice Bharati Dangre of the Bombay high court expressed distress over the sorry state of affairs where trial courts did not frame charges for a man facing murder charges for over six months. The accused, who has been an under-trial prisoner for five years, deserves an answer. The HC directed District Judges to explain why the charge has not been framed and the dates when the accused was not produced before the court. The judicial system seems to have forgotten about the applicant, and accountability must be fixed on individuals for the delays in the process.
