Diminished INDIA alliance strength after largest Parliament suspensions in country's history
Tuesday, 19 December 2023 The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have expelled and suspended several MPs, resulting in minimal opposition for the ruling BJP party. The majority of the suspended MPs belong to the INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties. This move has significantly reduced the strength of the opposition in both houses of Parliament. The suspended MPs include prominent figures such as Shashi Tharoor, Karti Chidambaram, Supriya Sule, Dimple Yadav, and Farooq Abdullah. The opposition has criticized the government for suspending MPs to pass bills without debate.
