3,000 illegal agencies are operating in India: MEA data
Sunday, 31 December 2023 As Gujarat police intensify efforts to capture the masterminds of the recently intercepted "donkey flight" in France, new data from the MEA sheds light on the prevalence of nearly 3,000 such unscrupulous agents/agencies across India, exploiting job seekers aspiring to work abroad. Among the 2,925 identified agencies, Gujarat has 56, and Karnataka has 80, but the states with the highest number of illegal agencies are Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Delhi, totalling 1,832. "Donkey flight" refers to an illicit immigration method for unauthorised entry into countries like the US.
