Calcutta HC rejects Bengal government’s plea against life term for RG Kar convict, admits CBI’s appeal

The Calcutta high court has admitted the CBI's appeal against the trial court's decision to sentence Sanjay Roy to life imprisonment without parole in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. However, it refused to accept the West Bengal government's appeal. Additionally, the Supreme Court has postponed the victim's parents' plea for a reinvestigation to March 17.
