C-17 aircraft lands at Kargil in a major boost to strategic airlift capabilities
Thursday, 6 March 2025 In a significant enhancement to the Indian Air Force's strategic airlift capabilities, the C-17 Globemaster-III made its first landing at Kargil airfield near the Line of Control with Pakistan. Spain is reeling after a deadly 16-day heatwave claimed more than 1,100 lives, with temperatures soaring above 40°C nationwide. Officials reported 1,149 excess deaths, mostly among vulnerable seniors and women. Madrid and Seville were hit hardest, with the urban heat island effect amplifying conditions. Wildfires in Catalonia destroyed farmland and worsened air quality. Experts warn climate change has made heatwaves hotter, longer, and three times deadlier. Spain, already scarred by past deadly summers, now faces a mounting public health and environmental crisis.
