While addressing at the Aero India Show in Bengaluru on February 03, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "The government of India has enhanced FDI in Defence Sector upto 74% through the Automatic Route and 100% through the government route, which would act as a catalyst for foreign players to invest in India." "I am very happy that HAL has got the orders for development of 83 new indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) - Tejas MK1A from Indian Air Force (IAF) valued at more than Rs 48,000 crores, it is probably the biggest 'Make in India' Defence contract till date," he added.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the inaugural session of Indian Air Force commanders' conference at Air Headquarters in Delhi on April 15. It is the first bi-annual Indian Air Force (IAF) Commanders' Conference for the year 2021. IAF Chief RKS Bhadauria was also present in the conference. Conference aims to address strategies and policies related to IAF capabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a webinar programme on budget allocation for Department of Financial Services where he focused on encouraging private enterprises. He said, "There is still great scope for the banking and insurance sectors in our economy. Keeping this in mind, we have taken many steps in this Budget - be it our decision to privatise two PSBs, raising FDI limit to 74% in insurance or our decision to bring LIC IPO. With the surge of COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Gaurav Gupta held a meeting with doctors and said that they had stepped up more on testing and vaccination and able to test people before who starts developing symptoms. Gaurav said, "Bangalore COVID cases have indeed risen sharply in the last few days. This second appears to be way more infectious. We are stepping up on the testing, where we find positive cases we are working on those places. We are able to test the people before they starts developing the symptoms so that's possible for everybody to be tested. We are stepping up the testing from 60,000 to 1,00,000 and vaccination from 35,000 to 70,000 everyday." Special Health Commissioner, Rajendra Cholan said, "As the numbers of cases are increasing, first thing is the bed availability and we had meeting with all the private hospitals and medical colleges. Now, we have received sufficient beds and we are setting up COVID care centre in 28 constituencies of Bengaluru to facilitate more beds, approx 2500-3000 beds.

Due to spike in COVID cases, night curfew has been imposed in Karnataka between 10 pm and 5 am to check the spread of coronavirus. Police barricades were placed to keep a check on the vehicular movement in Bengaluru. Similarly, the police officials kept a tab on movement during the curfew in Kalaburagi. They also baton charge people found wandering at public places during night curfew. DCP Kishore Kumar said, "Kalaburagi City Police are enforcing the night curfew (between 10 pm and 5 am) very strictly. We request people not to come out without any reason." The night curfew will remain in place till April 20.
