A journalist allegedly suffered injuries allegedly after being pushed by a security personnel guarding Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav. Ruckus broke out during the former UP Chief Minister’s press conference and Akhilesh was also seen arguing with some people amid jostling during the event. In a disturbing development, an email threatening the Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath was received by the Central Reserve Police Force in Mumbai. The email was forwarded to Central and Maharashtra agencies for investigation, said Kuldiep Singh, DG, CRPF. The email reportedly threatened a suicide attack against the BJP leaders. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the release of the CoBRA jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas who was abducted by the Naxals during an encounter with security forces along Sukma-Bijapur border on April 03, said it was a political win. "This is our strategic win. The officers who were given this responsibility have successfully performed it. I am satisfied, jawan's family was also worried," said CM Bhupesh Baghel.

"At a time when at least 22 jawans have lost their lives and more than 30 jawans are injured, and COVID fatality rate is rising, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister is busy in the election campaign in Assam. Large number of devotees visited Shri Bankey Bihari Temple in Mathura on April 09. They were seen flouting COVID-19 guidelines while offering prayers. Lucknow administration imposed night curfew and restrictions on attendees at wedding ceremony. The state government has imposed night curfew in parts of UP on April 08. Uttar Pradesh has registered 31,987 active cases so far.

District administration took an initiative to create awareness among people and tapped the services of Yamraj, the God of Death. A local artist, dressed as Yamraj, was seen creating awareness among people about COVID-19 pandemic, urging them to wear a mask and observe social distancing.He kept a piece of board along with lines, "Dharti wasio humara workload mat badhao, mask lagao aur distancing rakho", and kept saying "Mask lagao nahi to mai aa raha hun, Yum hai hum, hum hai Yum." Vicky, the artist said, "Corona is spreading rapidly so I request people of the city to wear masks and maintain social distancing wherever they go."
Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended a fake TTE in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on April 08. Fake TTE, Deep Shubham was caught on spot checking tickets in Northeast Express train. He also demanded money from without ticket passengers. Passengers raised doubt and inform the other TTE who was present in the train. Soon after, GRP took cognizance of the matter and arrested the fake TTE. He is a resident of Bihar who has done MPhil from JNU.
Amid election fever in West Bengal, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Jaya Bachchan visited the state on April 05, to extend party's support to All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). She praised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for "single-handedly fighting and struggling during elections". "A single woman is fighting against all the atrocities. Head broken, leg broken but they have not been able to break her heart, brain, and her determination to move ahead and make Bengal one of the best in the world... That's why I am here because Mamata Banerjee, a single lady is fighting and struggling to preserve the rights of every individual of Bengal," said Jaya Bachchan.
