1,14,24,094 beneficiaries inoculated till Feb 22, informs Health Ministry
"1,14,24,094 vaccinations were done across country till 6pm on February 22," informed Union Health Ministry Additional Secretary Manohar Agnani.
Manohar Agnani informed that total of 75,40,602 healthcare workers have been vaccinated.
Of which, 64,25,060 were inoculated with first dose while 11,15,542 were given second dose.
"There are 4 states and UTs which include Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which have done more than 75% coverage of healthcare workers and frontline workers in terms of the first dose," he added.
Even as the nation is struggling against a fresh wave of Covid-19 infections, the Union government announced some good news regarding another disease. Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said that 2 regions in India - the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, and Jammu & Kashmir's Budgam district - have been declared tuberculosis free. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on April 13 informed that Lakshadweep and Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam are now tuberculosis free. 'We have now declared one union territory - Lakshadweep and one district in Jammu and Kashmir - Budgam as tuberculosis free. I think this is a landmark achievement to begin with and I think it has already set the tone for a TB-free India by 2025,' said Union Health Minister.

Indian Coast Guard seized Sri Lankan fishing boats, from which 300 kg heroin, 5 AK-47 rifles with 1000 live rounds of cartridges were recovered. The Sri Lankan boats were seized with narcotics and arms at Minicoy Island on March 18. The Coast Guard ships and aircraft conducted an extensive search in the area of Lakshadweep Islands. On March 18, 21, patrolling ICG units detected three suspicious boats off Minicoy Islands and intercepted them. Post boarding, interrogation of the crew revealed inconsistent statements.
Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Prabhuram Choudhary asserted that the state government is not hiding any COVID data and the correct figures are updated daily. "Apart from COVID19 infected bodies, suspected bodies are also being cremated as per COVID protocol. We are not hiding any data, correct figures are being updated every day," added Prabhuram Choudhary.

Halke Ram was seen collecting samples while people, who came to get themselves tested for the infection at the hospital, were seen performing a 'self' Covid test.

Doses of Covaxin allegedly went missing from cold storage of a hospital in Rajasthan. The incident was reported in Jaipur’s Hari Bux Kanwatia Government hospital. Police said that a total of 320 doses went missing from the place they were stored. “We received a report from the hospital that 320 doses of Covaxin are missing. Following the complaint, we registered an FIR with charges of theft. Probe is on, CCTV footage will be checked & action will be taken accordingly,” a police official said. The incident comes amid reports of alleged vaccine shortage across many states.
