SC orders SpiceJet to pay Rs 380 crore to Maran; frowns at delay
Friday, 7 July 2023 In a blow to cash-strapped SpiceJet, the Supreme Court on Friday directed it to pay the entire arbitration award of Rs 380 crore to the budget carrier’s former promoter Kalanithi Maran.
The United Arab Emirates witnessed an unprecedented deluge, marking its most substantial rainfall on record since 1949. Described as a "historic weather event" by the state-run WAM news agency, the widespread downpour across the UAE is attributed to a combination of factors, including cloud seeding initiatives. Significant disruptions have been reported in flights from India to Dubai due to heavy rains causing flooding at the emirate's airport, one of the world's busiest. Air India, operating 72 weekly flights from multiple Indian cities to Dubai, alongside IndiGo, have cancelled their services on Wednesday. Other carriers, including Air India Express, Vistara, and SpiceJet, which also serve various Indian cities to Dubai routes, have been affected as well. Dubai, hosting a substantial Indian diaspora, sees these flight cancellations impacting travel plans and connections for many.
