3 lakh demat accounts frozen in Gujarat citing non-compliance

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 3 October 2023
Approximately 300,000 demat accounts in Gujarat have been frozen due to non-compliance with linking PAN with Aadhaar card and validation of mobile number and email ID. These investors will not be able to trade on the equity markets, invest in mutual funds, or participate in initial public offerings. Gujarat has a high number of equity investors and the non-compliance requests have caused difficulties for stockbrokers, who are working extra hours to resolve these issues. Some brokers have reported a higher than normal number of frozen accounts.
