Anti-collision system on Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata trains by March 2025
Thursday, 30 November 2023 The Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah railway routes will be equipped with the anti-train collision system, Kavach, by March 2025. Additionally, an AI-based sensor system named Gajraj will be deployed on a 700 km track across multiple states to prevent elephant deaths in rail accidents. The system uses existing OFC cables as sensors to detect elephant movements near railway tracks and generate real-time alarms. The Railway Ministry aims to increase the installation capacity of Kavach from 1,500 to 2,500 annually.
