Crimes registered nationwide under the IPC as well as Special and Local Laws (SLL) witnessed a 4.5% dip to 58.2 lakh in 2022 from 60.9 lakh in 2021. Delhi recorded the highest rate of cognisable crimes (IPC & SLL) at 1,518.2, followed by Kerala at 1,274.8, Haryana at 810.4, Gujarat at 738.9 and Tamil Nadu at 617.2.
