PM Modi offers prayers at the historic Lepakshi temple in Andhra Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the historic Lepakshi temple in Andhra Pradesh ahead of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Lepakshi is an ancient village associated with the Ramayana, where the bird king Jatayu fell after bravely fighting with the demon king Ravana. According to ancient scriptures, Lord Rama found Jatayu in a helpless state here, leading to the name "Lepakshi," meaning "Oh Bird...Arise" in Telugu. Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the national academy of customs, indirect taxes & narcotics during his visit.
