As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage across India, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi alleged that BJP ruled states have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of medical equipment. "Some of our chief ministers told me that they were left with a few days of vaccines. They had no oxygen and they were running out of ventilators. But there has been a thundering silence on the part of the government. On the contrary, some other states of interests to the BJP have been receiving preferential treatment in terms of equipment etc," said Congress president.
Creating a fresh controversy, the BJP had on Friday released an audiotape in which West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee can purportedly be heard proposing a rally with the bodies of the 5 firing victims of Cooch Behar. Mamata Banerjee has now alleged that her phone is being tapped.

Equity benchmark indices traded higher during early hours on Friday on the back of favourable global cues amid progress in the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. At 10:15 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was up by 470 points or 0.97 per cent at 48,910 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 152 points or 1.06 per cent to 14,477. Except for Nifty pharma, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green zone with Nifty metal up by 1.6 per cent, realty by 1.6 per cent, auto by 1.4 per cent and FMCG by 1.2 per cent. Among stocks, Bajaj Finserv gained by 3.3 per cent to Rs 9,359.95 per share while Tata Motors accelerated by 2.9 per cent and Bajaj Auto by 2.5 per cent. Hindustan Lever, Tata Steel, HDFC and Hindalco also traded with a positive bias. However, those which lost marginally were ONGC, Reliance Industries, Power Grid Corporation, Dr Reddy's and Cipla. Meanwhile, Asian shares bounced back from a three-month low after a late-day rally on Wall Street. MSCI's ex-Japan Asia index rose by 0.37 per cent after hitting a near three-month low a day earlier. Japan's Nikkei rose by 0.89 per cent.

In the latest development in Mansukh Hiren death case, a CCTV footage has surfaced purportedly showing Sachin Waze going to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 7 pm on March 05. Waze had taken a local train to Thane that day. He was brought to CSMT on April 05 for scene recreation. Officials from Pune's Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) were also present. Waze is an accused in the death case of Mansukh Hiran, the businessman who owned the explosive-laden car parked outside Mukesh Ambani's house Antilia on February 25. Body of Mansukh Hiren was found at Kalwa creek in Thane on March 05.
New revelations come to fore in the Ambani explosives case. The National Investigation Agency which has been probing the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case, has revealed that arrested Mumbai cop Sachin Vaze's personal driver drove the explosives-laden Scorpio and parked it outside 'Antilia' on February 25. The NIA investigations have also revealed that Sachin Vaze was driving the white coloured Innova that tailed Scorpio before the latter vehicle was parked outside Mukesh Ambani's house.

He directed divers to various spots in the river, and the latter were able to recover a laptop, car licence plates, 2 CPUs, and 2 DVRs. Vaze has been accused of orchestrating the bomb scare outside Ambani's 'Antilia' residence, planning to eventually solve the case and restore his reputation. Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that gilatine stick found in car outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence and Mansukh Hiren murder case are being investigated by National Intelligence Agency and Anti-Terrorism Squad. "The matter where gelatin sticks were found in a Scorpio vehicle outside Mukesh Ambani's residence and Mansukh Hiren murder case are being investigated by NIA and ATS. A fresh twist in the Ambani explosives case as Mansukh Hiren, the man whose Scorpio was found abandoned outside Mukesh Ambani's home Antilia has been found dead. Naupada Police recovered Hiren's body on Friday. Initial inputs suggest that Mansukh Hiren died by suicide. Police officials believe he jumped into the Kalwa creek. On February 25, Mumbai Police was alerted about a Scorpio abandoned near Reliance Industries owner Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia.

After resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deskhmukh, Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis said that more faces will be unmasked as soon as the investigation will be progressed in the allegations against Deshmukh. "Home Minister Anil Deskhmukh should have resigned at the moment he was blamed for the racket. I firmly believe that more things will come out now. This is like tip of iceberg. The moment the investigation progresses, more faces will be unmasked," said Devendra Fadnavis. Anil Deskhmukh resigned as Maharashtra Home Minister after High Court ordered probe in former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's allegations against Deshmukh.
A delegation of BJP leaders led by Devendra Fadnavis met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan and handed over their memorandum on March 24.
