G20 tourism meeting to be hosted in Srinagar amid high security; delegates arrive | Oneindia News
As Srinagar is set to host the G20 working group meeting on tourism beginning on Monday, stringent security arrangements are in place across the Kashmir Valley to ensure the three-day event goes off smoothly.
The Srinagar G20 meeting is the first major international event in Jammu and Kashmir, since the Central government abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories.
India has shut down 24 airports across key border states after major Pakistani air strikes rocked the region. Strategic airfields in Punjab, Rajasthan, J&K, and Gujarat have suspended operations, including sensitive locations like Srinagar and Leh. Civil aviation is on high alert, with heightened screenings, Air India advisories, and nationwide security ramp-ups. As tensions rise with Pakistan, the threat of further strikes looms over India's airspace and aviation sector. Authorities brace for escalation amid fears of retaliation and regional conflict.
