After India, several nations reject China's new map citing illegitimate appropriation of territories
Governments in the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan have joined India in rejecting China's new national map, issuing strongly worded statements accusing Beijing of claiming their territory.
China had published a new version of its national map on Monday to correct what Beijing has in the past referred to as “problematic maps” that it claims misrepresent its territorial borders.
India, on Tuesday, had lodged a strong protest with China over its so-called "standard map" laying claim over Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin, and asserted that such steps only complicate the resolution of the boundary question.
India’s The Ministryof External Affairs Ministry had outrightly rejected China's claims as having "no basis".
Yesterday, several other nations joined India in making their displeasure clear to China.
China's exports to the US sink but beat forecasts as tariffs bite
The data, which arrives just ahead of tariff talks between Washington and Beijing, shows a diversion of Chinese goods away from the United States.

In a bold move, India has fiercely criticized China’s state-run media, Global Times, for spreading disinformation regarding the Indian Air Force’s Operation Sindoor. The Indian Embassy in Beijing called out the media outlet for using outdated images of IAF crashes to mislead the public, claiming they were from the May 7 strikes. India’s fact-checking agencies promptly debunked these visuals as doctored propaganda.

China’s newest warship Qinzhou has completed a dramatic live-fire drill just days after joining the PLA Navy’s Southern Theater Command. The stealth frigate Type 054B, hull number 555, was seen in state media footage sinking a target using its main gun and close-in weapon system. This marks Beijing’s bold push to expand naval dominance in disputed waters. As tensions rise, military analysts say the ship’s firepower and far-seas capabilities fit China’s long-term strategy to control critical trade routes and deter rivals in the South China Sea.

The BRP Miguel Malvar, an 80-year-old World War II ship, sank unexpectedly before it could be used as a live-fire target in the U.S.-Philippine Balikatan drills. Originally set to be sunk off Zambales, rough seas and the vessel's age caused it to go under prematurely. The Malvar held historical value as a former U.S. Navy ship that once hunted Japanese submarines. Although the target drill was canceled, joint military exercises continued near the disputed Scarborough Shoal, highlighting growing U.S.-Philippine cooperation in deterring China's presence in the South China Sea.

Australia has deployed its warship, HMAS Sydney, to the South China Sea as part of a three-month Indo-Pacific mission, further escalating tensions in the region. This move follows a series of provocative actions, including China’s naval circumnavigation of Australia earlier this year and a recent unsafe interception of an Australian patrol aircraft by Chinese fighter jets. The Australian Defense Department maintains that its operations align with international law and uphold the principles of a free and open Indo-Pacific. The deployment comes after Australia’s participation in joint military drills with the U.S. and the Philippines, signaling a strong commitment to regional security.

China has deployed its aircraft carrier Shandong and an electronic surveillance ship to the Western Pacific in a direct response to the US-Philippines Balikatan drills and the unprecedented deployment of ship-sinking missiles in Luzon Strait. The US Navy's USS Nimitz is also active in the region. Beijing warned that any military collusion targeting China’s interests will face consequences. With 9,000 US and 5,000 Filipino troops participating, tensions in the South China Sea are at a boiling point, signaling a potential confrontation in the Taiwan Strait corridor.

Tensions are escalating in the Asia-Pacific as China slams the U.S.-Philippines joint military drills near Taiwan. The 2025 Balikatan exercises involve over 14,000 troops and simulated island defenses — moves Beijing says threaten regional peace. Chinese officials accuse the Philippines of colluding with foreign powers and warn the drills will disrupt stability and economic growth. As Australia, Japan, and others join or observe the war games, China warns: “Those who play with fire will get burned.” The Luzon Strait — near Taiwan — is now the center of global attention.

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Malaysia marks a pivotal moment in Beijing’s bid to outmaneuver the U.S. in Southeast Asia. With Trump-era tariffs souring Washington's trade ties, Xi aims to convince Malaysia and ASEAN that China is the region’s best long-term partner. Touting deepened strategic ties, tech cooperation, and economic integration, Xi’s charm offensive leans into BRICS, RCEP, and de-dollarization plans. As Malaysia looks East, Beijing is pushing hard to anchor a new global order that trades in renminbi—and trades away American dominance.

As Donald Trump hikes tariffs on Chinese goods to an unprecedented 145%, China appears to be outmaneuvering Washington through clever supply chain rerouting. Chinese exports are increasingly flowing through countries like Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia to dodge U.S. tariffs — raising concerns about global trade transparency. Meanwhile, Vietnam records $18.5 billion in net FDI, some of which may be due to this strategic redirection. Trump has vowed more tariff hikes, while Beijing threatens to retaliate, placing ASEAN economies at risk and pushing the global trade system into chaos.

A former U.S. Army analyst, 25-year-old Korbein Schultz, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for leaking top-secret military information to a contact he believed was linked to the Chinese government. Schultz admitted to selling sensitive data from 2022 to 2024—including info on U.S. troop movements, missile systems, and lessons from Ukraine—for $42,000. The case raises serious national security concerns, with leaked documents also covering Taiwan and NATO strategy. Schultz even tried to recruit others. Was it greed, ideology—or something darker?
