French President Emmanuel Macron, the chief guest for India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, landed in Jaipur on Thursday on his two-day State visit to India.
He was received by External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Kalraj Mishra.
Macron, who arrived in India with a 44-member delegation that includes high power ministers of Foreign Affairs, Stephane Sejourne, Defence, Sebastien Lecomu, and rapidly rising Culture czarina Rachida Dati, visited Amber Fort and met school students gathered there to welcome him.
In their first phone call since 2022, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron clashed over Iran’s nuclear program. Putin firmly defended Tehran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology under the NPT, warning the West against interference and destabilizing strikes. While both leaders agreed on the need to prevent escalation, Putin rebuked Macron for France’s stance and urged an unbiased approach from the IAEA. The Kremlin emphasized diplomacy and sovereignty, cautioning that Western pressure on Iran could trigger a wider regional crisis.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has launched a scathing attack on French President Emmanuel Macron and German opposition leader Friedrich Merz, accusing them of attempting to revive Europe's imperialist past.
