'Stubble burning declining in Punjab': State minister Harpal Cheema
Monday, 6 November 2023 Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema blamed BJP-ruled states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for most stubble-burning incidents, saying such incidents were declining in Punjab. Cheema accused the BJP of "maligning Punjab's image" and said that stubble burning was increasing in Haryana, UP, and other states. BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that 3000 incidents of stubble burning were reported in Punjab. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai reintroduced the Odd-Even plan for vehicles in Delhi to address air pollution caused by stubble burning.
