Income Tax searches on liquor firm Som's premises in five states
Tuesday, 7 November 2023 The Income Tax (I-T) department conducted searches at the residence and business premises of Jagdish Arora, owner of the Bhopal-based Som Group, on Tuesday. The raids spanned across 50 locations in five states, including poll-bound Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Apart from several premises in MP and Chhattisgarh, the searches were conducted in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Cuttack and Bengaluru. The officials leading the operation refused to speak, and the agency is yet to issue a statement.
BRS MLC K Kavitha faces investigation by the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax officials, suspected of involvement in bribery regarding the Delhi liquor policy. The searches at her Hyderabad residence allegedly stem from politically motivated actions, according to BRS spokesperson Sravan Dasoju. Kavitha's apprehension follows raids, with her family members engaging in confrontation with ED officers.
